Taking care of your Christmas Tree

* When cutting your fresh Christmas tree make a straight, sharp, clean cut.

* When you have brought your tree home place it into a stand with water. The tree will absorb quite a bit of water so have a container big enough to add extra.

* Check the water level each day, if the water level drops below the trunk of the tree, the trunk may seal itself and you will need to re-cut the trunk so the water can be absorbed.

* Place your tree in a cool position, away from the fireplace or any window that the sun may bring winter warmth onto the tree, as this will cause the tree to dry out faster. Cared for correctly your tree should last over four weeks.

Light up for Christmas safely

* Check cords, bulbs and plugs for any signs of damage before plugging in.

* Turn power off before replacing bulbs. * Do not over load power points or power boards.

* If your home does not have a safety switch, use a power board with one built in.

* Put your lights on the tree before adding your other decorations

* Position your tree away from curtains and other soft furnishings.

* Fully roll out extension cords to avoid them over heating. * Do not expose joins in the extension cords to the weather.

* Finally make sure children and pets are supervised around Christmas lights.

Happy holidays and Merry Christmas fom the Bento Real Estate Group.

6 Ways for your family to stay active during the Fall:

1. Get the family to help with household chores. Put on some upbeat music and make the tidying and cleaning a fun activity.

2. Try skipping contests as a great way to keep the family fit. Skipping can be done in the garage or an undercover area in bad weather.

3. Watch a little less TV, maybe watch one or two less show each week and play interactive TV game such as Wii or Xbox Connect.

4. Be crafty. Make a kite together as a family then head outside and go fly the kite.

5. Get the whole family washing the car. Fun if it is done together and much cheaper than the car wash.

6. When the weather allows join another family in the park for a game of touch football or play Twister indoors.

And as always, if you are thinking of selling your home or buying a home, let the Bento Real Estate Group work for you.
